Mission

Our mission is threefold:

  • to increase access and equity to young artists, create in-roads to pathways into a professional life in the arts;

  • to create places for fantasy, science fiction, and imaginative realistic art to display; and

  • to celebrate and cultivate talent of diverse artists while educating the community of the artistic skill of the imaginative realism field.

Goals

Our goals each year are:

01.

Elevate and promote specific diverse artists by giving them access to local, industry-standard workshops to learn and develop skills while making connections within the imaginative realism industry.

We specifically partner with our friends over at Fantasy Art Workshop to fund scholarships for diverse artists to attend their Illustration Intensive. For more info, check out their website.

02.

Provide awareness within our local communities on the role they play in supporting and funding diverse artists. This also includes supporting these artists by giving them opportunities to showcase and/or sell works.

“I don't think about art when I'm working.
I try to think about life.”

History

This foundation was created by Mike Linnemann in 2019 through the intersection of his hobbies and expertise; art history and working with nonprofits. Through this, he found an intersection of under-appreciation and under-representation from diverse artists. Thereby, the Imaginative Realism Foundation was created; to provide opportunities to kids in hopes to foster a future generation of young, diverse artists and their appreciation for this genre of art.
